Texas A&M University is home to over 1300 student organizations. Whether you are looking to get involved in Greek life, community service, student government or something else altogether, there is a community of Aggies with similar interests out there.

The Department of Student Activities even has tools such as OrgMatch and OrgSearch to help you find the organization that is the perfect fit.

So why should you join a student organization?

1. You’ll build community and make friends

Through joining a student organization, you’ll get to meet Aggies with similar interests. Whether you join a professional organization with students from your major, a FLO with other members of your class or a service organization with people passionate about a similar cause- you’ll find people that will become lifelong friends.

2. You’ll learn leadership skills

Many student organizations offer leadership or mentorship roles where you can learn important skills like conflict management, managing people, and communication skills.

3. You’ll add to your resume

Having student organizations on your resume shows employer’s your work ethic and that you can manage multiple responsibilities at once.

4. You’ll network

Through joining a student organization you’ll get to meet, connect and build relationships with fellow students. Professionally focused organizations may host networking events with industry professionals. Relationships with both professionals and fellow students create connections that can be useful down the road when searching for jobs.
