Student Affairs Fee Advisory Board
The Student Affairs Fee Advisory Board is made up of nine students that are interviewed and chosen by the Student Body President, Speaker of the Student Senate, Graduate and Professional Student Government President and the Student Affairs Fee Advisory Board (SAFAB) Chair. This board of undergraduate and graduate students represent the student body at Texas A&M University.
During the spring semester, the board receives comprehensive training in budgeting and operating procedures and learns more about the Division of Student Affairs areas to include: the Career Center, Disability Resources, DSA Marketing & Communications, the Graduate & Professional Student Government, the Don & Ellie Knauss Veteran Resource & Support Center, MSC Programs, Multicultural Services, Music Activities, the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, Recreational Sports, Student Activities, Student Community Standards, Student Affairs Planning, Assessment & Research, the Student Government Association and Student Life. Each board member will serve as a liaison to 2-3 of these areas, working with each to maximize the board’s understanding of their services to Texas A&M students.
In the fall semester, these same groups will present any requests for funding increases. The board will evaluate each request on an individual basis and make a final recommendation for increased University Advancement Fee funding to the Vice President for Student Affairs. This recommendation will be submitted to the university for consideration during the annual budget allocation process. The board also reviews any requests for increases in the Student Health Center Fee, Recreational Sports Fee and Student Center Complex Fee and submits the recommendations to Vice President for Student Affairs.
SAFAB plays a very important role, making recommendations on behalf of all graduate and undergraduate students at Texas A&M. Their recommendations directly affect campus life and the futures of many departments and programs. If you would like to be a part of this process, please apply to serve as a board member. Applications are accepted and the new board is chosen each spring.

Current Funding Requests
The Student Affairs Fee Advisory Board reviews department requests to ensure that University Advancement Fee funds are strategically allocated to enhance the student experience. Stakeholders and students are invited to review these prioritized funding proposals, which range from staffing needs to large-scale program support, and provide feedback during the annual budget deliberation process.
