Loyal Aggie Supports Parsons Mounted Cavalry
Dorothy McFerrin, a longtime supporter of Parsons Mounted Cavalry, made a generous donation to the group in honor of her late husband, Artie McFerrin '65. Her contribution will enable Parsons Mounted Cavalry to add a covered arena to better facilitate cadet horsemanship training in all weather conditions. She also sponsored a cavalry horse, lovingly named “Artie,” and funded the purchase of a new tractor to assist cadets with daily operations at their facility, known as The Fiddler's Green.
The McFerrins have supported Parsons Mounted Cavalry and Texas A&M for many years, and Artie McFerrin was involved in numerous Texas A&M pursuits, including the Chemical Engineering Advisory Board, the President's Corps of Cadets Board of Visitors, the 12th Man Foundation Board of Trustees, the Texas A&M Research Foundation, and the Engineering School Advisory Council. In 2005, he established an endowment to support Texas A&M's Department of Chemical Engineering, which now bears his name. He's also an Outstanding Alumnus of The Association of Former Students, the College of Engineering, and the Department of Chemical Engineering, and is a member of the Corps of Cadets Hall of Honor.
