Life in college starts with decisions about your academic future, but beyond that, it includes so much more. It’s a time in life where you learn to become independent, discover who you are and what you want to do, build lifelong connections and create memories that will last forever. At Texas A&M University, the Division of Student Affairs is here to support you on that journey by connecting you to countless opportunities that will help you create your own unique Aggie experience.

Whether you're passionate about leadership, community service, the arts or sports, there's a place for you in the Aggie family. It’s not one-size-fits-all, either. There are many ways you can find your fit and create your own unique path.

Don’t let the options overwhelm you, let them inspire you. Check out these nine ways you can get involved in Aggieland and explore one or as many as you can fit in your schedule. Either way, you’re sure to meet new people, expand your horizons and find something you love to do.

1. Student Organizations and Clubs: Find Your Fit

With more than 1,300 student organizations at Texas A&M, you'll find communities that match every interest imaginable. From academic honor societies and professional organizations to hobby clubs and cultural groups, these organizations are where lasting friendships are born and professional networks begin. Whether you're obsessed with robotics, debate, photography or anime, there's a group of Aggies with similar interests waiting to welcome you.

Explore your interests and see what orgs and clubs align them by using the Get Involved.

2. Volunteer Opportunities: Aggies Serving Others

The spirit of service runs deep in Aggie culture. Through various volunteer opportunities, you can make a meaningful impact. There are many student organizations focused on selfless service and giving back, too. Volunteering in college not only helps others, but also develops your leadership skills and gives you a broader perspective on the world around you.

Don’t know where to start? Check out The Big Event, the largest student-run day of service in the country.

3. Fraternity and Sorority Life: Brotherhood and Sisterhood

Greek life at Texas A&M offers a unique blend of social connection, academic support, and philanthropic engagement. With dozens of fraternities and sororities to choose from, you'll find communities that emphasize leadership development, scholarship and service. These organizations provide a home away from home and create bonds that extend far beyond your college years.

4. Recreational Sports: Stay Active, Stay Connected

Whether you're a seasoned athlete or just looking to stay active, Rec Sports’ Sport Clubs, Intramural Sports and Outdoor Adventures offer something for everyone. From competitive traveling club teams to recreational intramural leagues where you can play with friends and outdoor adventures where you can try new things, these programs promote wellness, teamwork and school spirit.

Nothing beats the camaraderie of cheering on your teammates or the satisfaction of a well-played game. And there’s so much more. Visit the Rec Sports website to explore all of Recreational Sports’ program areas and find your fitness groove.

5. Student Government: Your Voice in Action

Student government provides a platform for you to advocate for your fellow Aggies and make a real difference on campus. Through various elected positions and committee opportunities, you can help shape university policies, plan major events and ensure that student voices are heard at the highest levels of university administration, the Texas legislature and in Washington D.C.

6. Leadership Development: Building Tomorrow's Leaders

Texas A&M is committed to developing the next generation of leaders both inside and outside of the classroom. From workshops and seminars to mentorship opportunities and leadership retreats, these programs help you discover your leadership style, develop essential skills and prepare for success in your career and community.

Develop your leadership skills through the Level-Up to Lead Initiative in the Department of Multicultural Services. Or find a student organization focused on leadership, and connect with Student Organization Leadership and Development (SOLAD) in the Department of Student Activities for student organization leadership training and support. If you have served or are serving in the military, you can get involved with other student leaders in VALOR2 in the Veterans Resource and Support Center.

7. Musical Ensembles & the Arts: Follow Your Passion

Music brings people together in powerful ways, and Texas A&M's musical ensembles through the Department of Music Activities offer opportunities for musicians of all skill levels. From the world-famous Fightin' Texas Aggie Band to smaller chamber groups, choirs and contemporary ensembles, you can continue pursuing your musical passions while building friendships with fellow musicians.

Beyond music, the arts community at Texas A&M encompasses theater, dance, visual arts, creative writing and more. Whether you're interested in performing on stage, creating visual masterpieces, writing poetry or working behind the scenes in production, there are numerous opportunities to participate in the arts.

For involvement opportunities in the arts, check out MSC Committees like the MSC Visual Arts Committee or MSC Aggie Cinema and more.

8. Student Employment: Earn While You Learn

Working on campus provides more than just a paycheck, it offers valuable professional experience and helps you build connections with faculty, staff and other students across areas of campus you might otherwise not be exposed to.

Whether you're working as a resident advisor, a fitness instructor or in student media, campus employment helps you develop time management skills while earning money for college expenses. To find on-campus jobs, visit jobsforaggies.tamu.edu.

Fun Fact: Recreational Sports is the largest employer of students on campus!

9. Transformative Travel Opportunities: Expanding Your Horizons

Texas A&M offers numerous opportunities to see the world and gain global perspectives. From international internships, leadership programs and alternative spring break trips to traveling with musical ensembles and exploring our backyard in Texas, these experiences will broaden your worldview and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Explore travel opportunities offered through the MSC L.T. Jordan Institute for International Awareness and others in MSC Programs, as well as DMS Explorations through the Department of Multicultural Services.

Creating Your Unique Aggie Experience

The beauty of Texas A&M lies in the variety of opportunities, meaning you don't have to choose just one path. Many successful Aggies have been involved in multiple areas, creating multifaceted college experiences that reflect different interests and passions.

Maybe you'll join a professional organization, play intramural sports, volunteer in the community or participate in a musical ensemble. Or perhaps you'll advocate for your fellow Aggies through student government while getting involved in Greek life or another type of social organization.

The key is to step out of your comfort zone, try new things and say "yes" to opportunities that excite you. Your Aggie experience is entirely your own to create. Take advantage of everything Texas A&M has to offer, and you'll graduate not just with a degree, but with a network of lifelong friends, valuable experiences and the confidence to make a difference in the world.
