Singing Valentine reservations for Valentine's Day 2025 are officially open. The students of the Texas A&M Women's Chorus are ready to head out on the town and across campus in vocal trios of three. Decked out in their standout red and black gowns, they will deliver a unique surprise to recipients, which will include a live performance consisting of two classic love songs along with a personal card and bag of Valentine's candies.
"Singing Valentines is a beloved annual tradition of the Women's Chorus and we couldn't be more excited to share our love of singing with you!" said Tom Gerber, director of the Women's Chorus.
"This tradition is a wonderful experience not only for the person receiving the Singing Valentine but also for those delivering it," said Gerber. "Our students love this opportunity because they get to meet people they typically would not and make a meaningful impact on someone's day."
Spreading the Love, Tradition and Connection
Singing Valentines is a storied tradition, beginning with the inception of the Women's Chorus in 1979. Forty Six years later, this well-loved event connects generations of choir members - even garnering repeat customers who have ordered a Singing Valentine each year for decades.
"I've heard so many great stories from current and former members," said Christina Wilhelm ‘26, Women’s Chorus Public Relations Manager. "One of my favorites is a video of two former members as bridesmaids in another former Women's Chorus member's wedding. The girls recorded them singing to her on an old camera. They sang 'You Are My Sunshine' to her, which is one we still sing today in our Singing Valentine fundraiser. Singing Valentines is impactful to not only our community, but to us as members. The songs, harmonies, and memories stay with us."
Funding Students' Shared Experiences
Singing Valentines is also the Women's Chorus' biggest fundraiser. All funds support the year's upcoming social events and performance tours, and help members who need financial assistance.
"Singing Valentines helps the Women's Chorus fund our national and international tours," said Evy Cutshall ‘26, Women's Chorus fundraising manager. "Last year we went on tour in Sweden, Finland and Estonia. We had the privilege of singing in some of the most beautiful places I have ever seen, and we got to experience Europe in such a unique way as a group. This year, we are going on tour in Florida and singing at the Disney Imagination Campus, in collaboration with the University of Florida."
Women's Chorus is an organization where many students like Cutshall and Wilhelm have found their place, formed lifelong friendships and bonded through transformative experiences like Singing Valentines.
“Women’s Chorus has been my home since my first day in Aggieland,” said Cutshall. “I think it’s easy to fade into obscurity in such a massive university like Texas A&M, but Women's Chorus makes such a big place small. I know these girls and they know me. Being seen, known, and loved is something everyone is looking for, and Women’s Chorus has been a place we have all found it.”
