Division of Student Affairs Professional Development Grant Application

Texas A&M University, in partnership with the Division of Student Affairs (DSA), has committed recurring funds to support professional development in the Division of Student Affairs.

Requirements:

  • 100% of the applicant’s job responsibilities must contribute directly to the Division of Student Affairs.
  • Applicant must be a full time, permanent employee budgeted at least 50% time in the title of graduate assistant up to director.
  • Applicant must have completed 6 months of service in the DSA at the time of the professional development opportunity for which they are applying.
  • Direct supervisor and department head approval is required at the time of submission, and via email upon submission.

Additional Information:

  • Grant maximums are $2,500 per year.
  • Grants are not intended to fund current and routine opportunities but rather to explore new opportunities.
  • Both online and in-person professional development opportunities are eligible. Examples include, but are not limited to, conferences, webinars, seminars, workshops, lectures, and certifications.
  • Staff may apply for events for which they have not been confirmed as a participant yet. If funding is granted, it will not be transferred until confirmation has been received.
  • Higher consideration for funding will be given to applications with a well-articulated Statement of Value/Benefit.
  • Please allow 2-3 weeks after the deadline for applications to be reviewed.

DSA Affiliate Employees:

  • DSA Affiliates (full-time employees in Finance, HROE, and Technology Services, who have a dotted line to the Division of Student Affairs) are eligible to request up to $1,000 in professional development funding per fiscal year.
  • These requests must demonstrate a direct connection to the Affiliates' work in supporting the Division of Student Affairs.
  • The request must be submitted to their DSA Affiliate Lead, and the DSA Affiliate Lead should then send the request and their support to Dr. Justin Jeffery ([email protected]) for approval.
  • Funding is limited and contingent on availability, with a maximum of 10 affiliate awards granted annually across the Division.
  • If you are a DSA Affiliate, please do not fill out this form. DSA Affiliates (Finance, HROE, Technology Services) may request funding through their DSA Affiliate Lead. See the above for eligibility details and submission instructions.
  • Max. file size: 50 MB.
  • Upon submission, a copy of your submission will be sent to the DSA Staff Development Team, your supervisor, and your department head. Your supervisor and department head must approve of your request before it is able to be reviewed by the Staff Development Team.
