MSC Townhall spring concert series

MSC Town Hall, an MSC committee established in 1951, brings concerts and live events to campus for the student body and surrounding community. This fall, the organization will be hosting a fall concert series dubbed the 12th Jam Concert Series, Rocktoberfest, Hispanic Heritage Fest and Coffeehouse performances.

The 12th Jam Concert Series consists of three concerts over the course of the fall semester. These concerts are large scale events bringing artists from all over the nation to Aggie Park. Rocktoberfest will bring local talent to campus to celebrate Halloween and will be accompanied by fun activities like pumpkin carving. Hispanic Heritage Fest, a collaboration with MSC CAMAC, brings local music acts and Hispanic/Latinx student organizations together for a celebration of Hispanic Heritage month. Coffeehouse performances are small scale and feature student performers. Coffeehouse is every other Wednesday outside the ILCB from 5 to 7 p.m.

In addition to providing live entertainment to the student body, MSC Town Hall also provides unique, hands-on learning experiences to its members. “I’ve learned a lot about communication,” Jillian Weeks ’25, vice chair of MSC Town Hall said. “We have more than 80 members, so there are a lot of moving parts on the day of a show.”

From researching talent to securing contracts to day-of technical support, every part of MSC Town Hall is completely student run. “I’ve always seen MSC Town Hall as an intersection between professional and personal interests,” Eddie Zurita ’27, Large Events & Concert Series executive said. While some MSC Town Hall members intend on pursuing careers in music, the skills they are learning will be applicable to any industry. “All our members love live music,” Weeks said. “That's the core of what they have in common. But beyond that, they're learning so much about being a part of something and what it takes to make something big happen.”

MSC Town Hall’s next installation of the 12th Jam Concert Series will be Friday, Oct. 4 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. in Aggie Park. For more information on MSC Town Hall’s upcoming events, visit their Instagram.
