Howdy Week is Texas A&M University’s way of welcoming students to campus at the start of the new school year. Aggieland’s official welcome event will run from August 15-20, 2024. The week will be packed full of over 100 events across campus. Here are some tips for making the most out of Howdy Week 2024.
Plan Ahead
The Howdy Week schedule goes live the week before events start. The TAMU mobile app also has a feature that allows users to favorite events and create a personal itinerary. Students should think about what type of organizations and departments they want to learn more about and keep an eye out for events hosted by those groups.

New Student and Family Programs’ social media channels will be the best way to keep up with Howdy Week festivities. Everything from event updates to information on how to participate in the Howdy Week scavenger hunt will be shared during Howdy Week.
Allow Plenty of Travel Time
If traveling to a Howdy Week event from off campus, students should plan on it taking a little longer than usual. Campus and College Station will be crowded, so patience will be key in making it from point A to point B.
Be Safe in the Heat
August in Aggieland is hot! Hydration and sunscreen are essential to staying safe when attending outdoor events. In addition, the buses will be running throughout Howdy Week, so students have a transportation option that is out of the heat.
Don’t Be Afraid to Go Alone
Howdy Week is a great opportunity to meet fellow Aggies with similar interests! If you are new to campus and haven’t had a chance to meet anyone yet, don’t let that hold you back. A Howdy Week event might be where you meet your lifelong friends!
