Graduate Assistantships
Texas A&M University fosters a healthy academic climate and professional atmosphere, which encourages student learning and growth. During the SAAHE Interview Conference, applicants can interview for available graduate assistantships. Assistantships enable students to gain practical experience and apply what they learn in the classroom. Salary and/or benefits gained through assistantships also help SAAHE students supplement the cost of their education. Every attempt is made to simultaneously offer admission into the academic program and a graduate assistantship.
Candidates are encouraged to review each position to determine any amount of interest carefully. Keep in mind there are limited positions available: the more you can indicate interest, the more interviews you may be able to conduct. The higher likelihood you may be matched. Along with your registration instructions, each candidate has been emailed a form on which they can indicate their interest in the different positions. These listings are subject to change. Updates and changes will be posted as they are made available.
Candidates who advance to the SAAHE Interview Conference should complete the Candidate Assistantship Interview Preference Form no later than Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, by 5 p.m. CST. Please attend the SAAHE Virtual Open House on Jan. 28, 2026 prior to submitting your preferences.

2026 Assistantship Offerings
Career Center – Career Exploration Graduate Assistant
The Graduate Assistant supports the Texas A&M Career Center in delivering quality career development support to exploratory students at Texas A&M. This role will assist with program coordination, advise students through major & career exploration and contribute to the Career Center’s efforts to promote career readiness among students.
Residence Life – Graduate Hall Director
The Graduate Hall Director is a part-time live-in staff member responsible for the overall or shared administration of a residence hall. The residence hall populations range from 115 to 1,200 and may have between four and twenty-eight undergraduate Resident Advisors. The Graduate Hall Director works with both the staff and residents to develop a comfortable living and learning environment coinciding with the mission and goals of Texas A&M University.
Residence Life – Tours Coordinator
The primary goal of the Residence Hall Tour program is to provide accurate information on guided tours, be a positive representative of the Department of Residence Life and Texas A&M University, and to provide any additional assistance that a visitor may need. The Tour Program Coordinator, a Graduate Assistant Residence Hall Graduate Tour Coordinator, Assistant Tour Coordinator(s) and Tour Guides are university hosts to the many people who visit our campus annually. Residence Life offers walking tours and virtual tours of various styles of residence halls on Monday through Friday and some Saturdays throughout the year.
College of Education & Human Development – Marilyn Kent Byrne Student Success Center Graduate Assistant
The graduate assistant plays a critical leadership and support role within the Byrne Student Success Center, coordinating programs, mentoring students, supporting basic needs initiatives and contributing to the College of Education & Human Development’s student success efforts.
Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs
The Graduate Assistant’s primary focus will be assisting the Program Manager for Aggie Yell Leaders in the coordination of divisional events and high-profile traditions. This position will also offer some operational support for the Yell Leader program. Duties include assisting the planning and execution of development programs, Midnight Yell Practices, and game day operations. Additional responsibilities will include administrative support, logistics, and collaboration with campus partners. Job tasks are not limited to this overview and may expand based on divisional needs.
Student Activities – Fraternity and Sorority Life Graduate Assistant
The Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) graduate assistant plays a vital role in supporting the Greek community by co-advising governing councils and leading health and safety initiatives. In their first year, the graduate assistant co-advises the Collegiate Panhellenic Council (CPC) and the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) while helping new affiliate organizations navigate community standards. The second year shifts focus to advising the Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) on judicial and safety progress, as well as collaborating with the Interfraternity Council (IFC) on large-scale programming and assessment. Beyond council advising, the graduate assistant serves on department-wide committees and assists with various administrative duties to ensure the holistic development of student leaders.
Student Activities – Campus Engagement and Traditions Graduate Assistant
The Campus Engagement and Traditions Team within the Department of Student Activities seeks a graduate assistant to foster impactful student-advisor relationships with the Student Government Association and Class Councils. In this role, the graduate assistant will enhance their professional skills in training, programming and risk management while supporting high-profile student organizations and large-scale campus traditions. By working closely with student leaders, the individual will play a key part in executing premier campus programs and ensuring the continued success of beloved university legacies.
Student Affairs Planning, Assessment & Research – Graduate Assistant, Student Learning
The Graduate Assistant in Student Affairs Planning, Assessment & Research (SAPAR) primarily will provide support for the Division of Student Affairs (DSA) initiative, Student Affairs Transformation Experience (SATE). This will be an inaugural year for this assistantship, but SAPAR plans that this person will primarily develop and coordinate SATE outreach and marketing to both student organization advisors and the students themselves. Great opportunity to learn about many facets of the student affairs profession.
Veteran and Military Student Program and Engagement Facilitator
This position offers the opportunity to identify student affairs service gaps in a unique segment of the student population and implement strategies to fill those gaps. While this position works for the benefit of all Texas A&M veteran and military students, it will apply as special focus on students at satellite campuses and in distance education programs. The Texas A&M Student Experience Study and internal VRSC assessments show these students feel separated from experiences and services more readily available to students on the College Station campus. This position will pioneer connection methods, assessment techniques, and program creation to improve the student experience for satellite campus and distance education learners.
