YELL LEADER SCHOLARSHIPS
GOAL: $2.1 MILLION
The Yell Leaders are five of Texas A&M’s most high-profile student leaders, and arguably its busiest! They represent and lead all students at athletic events, including football (home and away games), men’s and women’s basketball (home and tournament games), volleyball, and soccer.
Each year, in addition to athletic events, they attend Coach’s Night events in major Texas cities, visit numerous Aggie Mother’s Clubs across the state, and teach new Aggies about traditions during New Student Conferences, Fish Camp and T-Camp. They are also invited to speak and lead yells at many other Texas A&M events for students, former students, faculty and staff.
The Yell Leaders do all of this while taking a full course load, and most are members of the Corps of Cadets and other high-profile student organizations. The number of year-round activities they are asked to attend has increased, leaving no time for Yell Leaders to hold down part-time jobs like other students.
Many students from other NCAA schools who participate in similar activities, such as cheerleading, dancing, or mascot management, receive scholarships from athletic departments or private donors associated with those universities.
Your gifts to the Yell Leaders Endowed Scholarship Fund would provide full-ride scholarships for all five Yell Leaders, relieving the financial burden associated with tuition and other costs so they may focus on their responsibilities as college students and Yell Leaders.
Because the head Yell Leader takes on additional responsibility as a student leader and must coordinate the program and train new Yell Leaders, our goal is to raise an additional $100,000 for the Head Yell Leader scholarship endowment.

Bob Segner '69 as a yell leader in the 1960s
“Many Aggies are not aware that being a Yell Leader today is tantamount to a full-time job. The Yell Leaders present themselves and represent Texas A&M and the 12th Man at more than 300 events per year, while maintaining a full-time academic load and the minimum GPA as prescribed by their constitution. They must remain in College Station during the summer, so as to have a common springboard for visits to Coaches’ Nights, Mothers’ Clubs, Fish Camps and other functions. Housing is a challenge, and there is minimal financial support available. Now all of us have the opportunity to contribute to a campaign that will provide
lasting assistance to the Yell Leaders, who give so much.”
