Update From the VPSA (October 14, 2009)

Howdy, Ags!

I want to thank all of you for your patience and understanding as we work through the process of selecting and distributing a limited number of tickets to Friday's "1000 Points of Light" event.  I can't think of any better place for the President of the United States to come than to Aggieland!  Unfortunately, for reasons that are understandable, we simply don't have enough room for all students who desire to attend.  With that said, I know it will be an exciting day for many.  I would also ask your patience and understanding for any inconvenience you may experience with respect to parking and access to our buildings.  With a visit from the President of the United States (POTUS) come enhanced security and logistical requirements.  The campus will be full of visitors attending the event itself, as well as those exercising their right to freedom of expression.  Please make all feel welcome and at home in Aggieland.  As I travel about various other campuses, I'm always asked how we end up with such a friendly and respectful student body.  I simply tell them, "They are Texas Aggies."  You and I know the rest of the story!

If you can't make the K-State game, please catch it on T.V. or radio.  I believe you all are gonna be quite happy and excited about what you will see Saturday.  Our Aggie Football Team is on its way back, and you are a great reason for that.  Saturday in Kyle Field you were "there" and you were "loud!"   That's exactly what is expected of the 12th Man.

I appreciate all's attendance at last week's Silver Taps.  Paying respect to five of our fallen Aggies is not something any of us enjoys doing.  We do it because we will miss them and recognize the void we will feel in our own lives and in the Aggie Family.  Please take care of yourselves and each other!  Motorcycles and cars are great things to have, but they are dangerous!  Always give yourself the ultimate risk management test:  "If something can go wrong, it will.  Am I prepared to deal with it in such a manner as to avoid an accident?"  With this type of approach we can and will cut down on the numbers of our Aggie Family we pay tribute to at each Silver Taps.

First big round of tests is over!  Continue to strive for academic excellence and enjoy every single day of your stay here in Aggieland!

Beat the hell out of k-state!!!
