Since 1898, our student body has kept Silver Taps as one of the finest traditions of Texas A&M University. Silver Taps is a tribute paid to An Aggie who, at the time of his / her death was enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, or professional courses at Texas A&M University.
Silver Taps will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at 10:30 p.m. in the Academic Plaza in honor of Anthony Hany Awad, Colter Dean Bright, Jason Gregory Dawson, Robert Spencer King Jr., and Jun Surk Park.
In preparation for the ceremony, all residence halls, buildings and streetlights surrounding the Silver Taps ceremony site (Academic Plaza area) will be darkened from 10:15 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. The darkness and quiet, which cover the campus, emphasize the solemn mood for Silver Taps.
This time honored tradition merits participation by every student, faculty, staff and visitor. All are highly encouraged to attend this ceremony.
Transportation Services provides free parking in the University Center Garage between 9 p.m. - 2 a.m. for Silver Taps attendees. In the case of severe weather, Silver Taps will be held in an alternate location.
