Department of Student Life
The Department of Student Life is one of fourteen departments in the Division of Student Affairs and is responsible for a myriad of student programs and services to include: new student programs [orientation], mediation services, student legal services and student conduct services, alcohol and drug education programs, adult and graduate student services, off campus student services, parent programs, and critical incident response/student welfare services.
Position Overview:
• The Coordinator provides the administrative oversight for the New Student Programs office to include budgets, reports and supervision.
Required Education and Experience:
• Masters degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education or a related field & three or more years experience
• Bachelor's degree & five or more years of full-time experience in student affairs work
• Knowledge of the first-year student experience; knowledge of web page design and desktop publishing; budget and supervision experience.
Responsibilities include:
• Coordination of all programs of the New Student Conferences (NSC) in preparation for the conferences as well as during them. Chairs the campus wide New Student Conference committee.
• Select, train, supervise and evaluate one Student Development Specialist II, one graduate assistant, one office associate and student assistants.
• Chair of Gig'Em Week (GEW) Committee, a Division of Student Affairs collaborative team that oversees the coordination and planning of programs for Gig'Em Week: Aggieland's Week of Welcome.
• Oversee the preparation of several publications, to include the new student handbook (Whoopstart), conference schedules, and various newsletters, and the development of the mentoring program.
• Department committees and task forces, as assigned. Maintain active role in professional associations and organizations related to orientation.
• Assist as needed with the advisement of the Aggie Orientation Leader Program and coordination of the ATMentors program.
• Evening and weekend work and/or travel may be required.
• Advance the philosophy of multiculturalism and actively promote diversity in staffing, programming, and student leadership.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Student Life.
Salary: $38,000—$41,000 plus excellent State benefits

• Bachelor's degree & five or more years of full-time experience in student affairs work specifically in student conduct services.
Responsibilities include:
• Coordinates the administrative operations of the alcohol & other drug education programs to include supervision of one professional staff member, a graduate assistant, and practicum students.
• Coordinates the development and implementation of assessments, evaluations and research activities related to student conduct services and alcohol and other drug issues on campus (CORE Survey, Drug Free Schools Act Review & Certification, Clery Act, etc.).
• Assist in the development and coordination of the university’s Back on Track Program for students in danger of being separated from Texas A&M for high risk alcohol and other drug behavior.
• Serves as a student conduct officer within Student Conduct Services to assess incident reports, issue charges, serve in various roles in the student life conduct process (case officer, hearing panel chair, hearing panelist) and conduct administrative hearings.
• Supervises the development and implementation of sanctioned educational workshops, programs, or projects for students involved in high-risk behaviors that have resulted in student discipline sanctions.
• Directs the promotion of Alcohol and Drug Education Program services including educational presentations, resource library availability, substance abuse counseling referrals, and community service opportunities. This includes the development, review of and maintenance of brochures, websites, and other such publications sponsored or associated with alcohol & drug education programs as well as training programs to student leaders, student organizations, residence hall staff, fraternities and sororities and the Corps of Cadets.
