Vice President for Student Affairs LtGen (Ret) Joe Weber '72 recently announced the appointment of C. J. Woods as Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs. C.J., who has served as Texas A&M's Director of the Department of Multicultural Services since 2006, has more than 11 years experience as a department head in higher education and student affairs. He was selected as a Fish Camp Namesake during his second year at Texas A&M and has been instrumental in developing the Community of Respect program presented at New Student Orientation, the A&M Collective, the CLUES learning community, and a number of other highly successful diversity initiatives. Prior to coming to Texas A&M C.J. served as Director of Diversity Programs and Coordinator of Judicial Affairs at Western Kentucky University. He received a B.S. in political science from the University of Southern Mississippi, a Master's in counseling and student development from George Mason University, and is in the final stages of completing his Doctoral studies in higher education administration at the University of Louisville. C.J. will supervise a number of Student Affairs departments yet to be determined.
A national search will commence immediately for Mr. Woods' successor, to fill the Director of Multicultural Services role.
Each year, the Division of Student Affairs recognizes outstanding staff achievements. All recipients will be announced and honored at the May 6 Division of Student Affairs Awards Ceremony.

The Diversity Awards ceremony recognizes the recipients of the Diversity Service Award, Gary Gray Memorial Student Recognition Award, Partners in Learning Award of Excellence, Rainbow Award and The Phyllis R. Frye Advocacy Award. The ceremony is sponsored by the Office of the Vice President of Diversity, the Department of Multicultural Services, the Department of Disability Services, Aggie Allies and Student Government Association Diversity Commission.
