DR. CYNTHIA L. HERNANDEZ

Associate Vice President

Dr. Hernandez provides administrative supervision for the departments of Information Technology, Student Life Studies and the University Art Galleries, as well as Division of Student Affairs Marketing & Communications. In addition to her areas of supervision, she currently serves as the convener of the Special Situations Team and the Title IX Deputy for students.

Dr. Hernandez has over 20 years of experience in higher education and student affairs. Prior to returning to Texas A&M, she served as the Coordinator of Orientation, Transition, and Retention Services at Northern Arizona University.

Dr. Hernandez earned a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, a master’s degree in Educational Administration with an emphasis in Student Affairs, and a doctorate in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University.

Dr. Hernandez has received The Association of Former Students and Division of Student Affairs Professional Staff Award and was selected as a Fish Camp Namesake in 2002.  Dr. Hernandez is a member of several professional organizations including the Student Affairs Administrations in Higher Education (NASPA), the Association of Student Conduct Administrators, and the Association for Orientation, Transition, and Retention in Higher Education (NODA), where she held the position of president.
